MarkingsMarks: on boat, near handle - one horizontal and one round mark, both illegible; at base of boat - circular mark with profile facing right; underside of stand - oval punch with classical head of woman (dated after 1783), diamond punch with letters LL, fleur-de-lis and star, octagonal punch with rooster (Paris, 1st standard mark, 1819); on stand - below anthemion border, circular mark with profile and smaller illegible mark.

DescriptionOval sauce boat with attached stand. Handle ends in floral motif. Anthemion border on rim of boat, base of boat and stand. Stand rests on four round feet. Coat-of-arms on boat and also on stand, consisting of a shield bearing lion and three towers, crossed scepters behind shield, drapery. Not an original part of the silver service. Marks indicate could be as late as 1819.
