[1] According to Eric Stiebel, Rosenberg & Stiebel, in a letter to Laurence Sickman, Director, May 21, 1970, Nelson-Atkins curatorial files, these bowls “come from a collection of a member of the French Rothschild family.” Stiebel does not specify which member of the family, however, and Rosenberg & Stiebel dealt with objects from several French Rothschild family members.
