NOTES:

[1] According to Michael Oliver in documentation provided at the time of the object’s purchase, NAMA curatorial files, the object was formerly in the Levitt collection. Sol and Jo Levitt were prominent collectors of African art. In a letter to David Binkley, Curator, NAMA curatorial files, Oliver indicated the object had “been in a collection here for a long time.”
