Gallery LabelCourt artists favored the theme of One Hundred Birds, depicted here. Inspired by the exotic birds in imperial gardens, this theme portrays diverse species living harmoniously in nature, symbolizing a society under good governance. The weaver wove this detailed parade of birds with a complex brocade technique. The ragged left edge suggests that the original design might have been longer, while the multiple collectors’ seals at the right indicate that the collectors highly valued this panel.
