DescriptionThe small assemblage is made of a lacquer box set within a lacquer tray, decorated with an image of a floating dragon, and other various found objects. Set into the lower section of the tray is a box which opens to reveal two symmetrical scenes, comprised of small, seated figures flanked by plant forms. Decorating the surface of the tray above the box, various small objects, including an imitation, carved jade bead; a small plastic, red Buddha figure; and decorated chop sticks, are arranged and affixed to tCopyright© Betye Saar, courtesy the artist
