DescriptionColorless glass with red overlay. Engraved with an architectural view. Beneath the image is the inscription, "The race bridge fair mount water/Works, Philadelphia"Gallery Label
Although made in what would today be the Czech Republic, this goblet’s decoration features a very American scene: the Fairmount Waterworks along Philadelphia’s Schuylkill River, built between 1812 and 1872. Considered a marvel of public engineering, the waterworks’ appearance on this goblet suggests the object was aimed at the American market.
