DescriptionImage of a little girl wearing a yellow dress hiding behind a flowering bush. A dense row of trees fills the background of a grassy landscape.Gallery LabelAs imagery should capture, depict, and document the lived world, an aesthetic of interrogation should accompany each account. —RaMell Ross
A little girl dressed in yellow crouches behind a rose bush on a neatly mowed lawn, the beads in her hair nearly merging with the flower’s red blossoms. Her face obscured, we are left with more questions than answers. Is she playing a game of hide and seek? Is there something else hidden there with her? These mysteries are intentional: RaMell Ross composes the image to both record the moment and raise questions about our own interpretations.
