DescriptionImage of pieces of wood cut into triangles; their harsh shadows are visible on the rough wooden surface beneath.Gallery LabelTo make this still life, Graham Howe arranged a group of wooden blocks on a piece of plywood to contrast the wood grain patterns. These forms, when placed in bright light, cast dark shadows. Once photographed, their kite-like shapes pull our attention to the surface of the print, flattening the sense of three-dimensionality.
