DescriptionA distinctive structure is the two stretchers built in an X form diagonally connecting the legs. The cloud décors are carved at the joint of the stretcher and inner section of each leg. The seat mat has been refurbished with recycled wood support underneath, probably during the Qing dynasty (1644–1911). Below the seat, the aprons curve into the center to form a recessed “waist.” The aprons are carved with openwork of cloud motifs similar to those at stretcher joints. More details show in the beading along the edges of openwork, aprons, and legs. Straight down, the corner legs end in horse-hooped feet to greet the floor.
