DescriptionA large vase with cloisonné enamel panels of Japanese-inspired flowers and plants with additional Asian-inspired motifs and designs in silver electroplating. Vase with flared handles with enameled thumb pieces supported by a base with three elephant heads covered in silver geometric patterning with additional small panels of enamel around the flared base separated by bands of stylized floral designs in silver.Exhibition History

NOTES:

[1] It is presumed that Georges Janin acquired the vases at one of the international exhibitions, most likely Paris in 1878. Janin emigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1892. The dealer Oscar Graf provided this information in a sale catalogue note, NAMA curatorial files.
