DescriptionImage of a door with a small window in the center and the word "LOUNGE" painted along the bottom. A top hat with a walking stick is painted above.Gallery LabelThough simply rendered, the text, imagery, and architectural components of this sign come together to convey a complex set of messages. Painted on bare plywood, a bowler hat and pool cue hover over a small, diamond-shaped window. While the pool cue is common to a dive bar, the inclusion of the bowler hat suggests, perhaps, that the owners sought to entice visitors aspiring to a different leisure class.
