DescriptionThree horizontal bands establish the composition of this horizontally oriented, gouache painting. In the foreground, a boat with maroon/red sail floats on a muddy, blue/green “water” band. The middle ground is comprised of two ochre buildings. The building at left features a portico colonnade and is capped by a blue/green dome. Four evenly-spaced, small trees stand in front of this building. The building at right is blocky and marked with loosely sketched vertical and horizontal black lines, suggesting windows and stucco/stone variations. The background consists of two color areas: a slightly arched band of blue, and above that, wider band of green. The site captured in this gouache is unknown.ProvenanceCollection of the artist (1906-1988) and his wife, Erika Bourguignon (née Eichhorn, 1924-2015);
