DescriptionThis manuscript consists of 14 lacquer folios set between two wooden lacquer manuscript covers. The manuscript is created in Myanmar and follows that regional style, with the writing in black lacquer, ornamented with vegetal and figural decoration in red and gold lacquer. The folios are two-sided, each containing 11 lines of the Pali language written in Burmese script. Scrolling foliage in red and gold ink interweave around the text. The side margins of each folio have additional vegetal or figural designs. The first two pages of the manuscript have figures in the margins, as do the wooden covers, which each contain five large figures that appear to be dancing framed in boxes, divided by additional figures and foliage.Exhibition History
