DescriptionThis manuscript box is a low, rectangular-shaped container with a hinged lid. It is covered in gilt lacquer, and is decorated with registers of rosettes, created from glass beads and white and blue sequins, set in rossettes along the sides and top. The decoration of the settings and the molded designs is exceedingly fine. The rows of reddish-pink and stones appear to be rubies, rather than glass. One side of the box is becoming detatched and there is some dark staining at that join. Conservation assures me that this is treatable and can be handled by the current intern.Exhibition HistoryNo exhibition history known at this time.
