DescriptionImage of man's legs and woman's legs crossing the street with harsh shadows.Exhibition HistoryRotation 23. The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO, January 18 – May 28, 2017, no cat.
Ray K. Metzker viewed the city as a wondrous play of light and shadow, shape and line. His pictures are fresh explorations of graphic energy—he found unexpected beauty in the most ordinary places and events. Metzker, a graduate of the photography program of the Institute of Design in Chicago, is famed for his bold, reductive use of black and white. His mature style was shaped in the late 1950s, during his time in Chicago.
