DescriptionThis skirt is tube-like and woven from raffia, a natural fiber, which gives it an elastic feel. It has beige and orange dyed oval patterns over a dominant dark brown background. In use, its tube-like form would have fitted over the loins of a woman with the tasseled end hanging around the feet.Provenance

Gaylord Torrence, Kansas City, MO, ca. 2003-2013 [1];

His gift to The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO, 2013.
