In the early 1990s, Terry Evans began photographing in the small community of Matfield Green, located in the Flint Hills of Chase County, Kansas. She wanted to create "a poem about people rooted in place." These intimate portraits speak to the effects of time's passage on this tiny, yet enduring, community.
