Paul McDonough frequently photographed on the streets of New York City during the late 1960s and early 1970s alongside his friend and contemporary, Garry Winogrand. His images, as seen here, are witty observations of people as they make their way through the hustle and bustle of the city. Though a kissing couple serves as a central focal point, McDonough’s slightly off kilter angle ensures that no one element overtakes the composition. Rather, the photograph is a dynamic compilation of individual moments brought together by McDonough’s keen eye.
