DescriptionWoodblock prints on Korean paper in color and monochrome.Gallery LabelWater is an essential component of Chinese and Japanese landscape painting: most landscapes include a river, stream, waterfall or lake somewhere in their composition. Sometimes water is depicted as a void by leaving the paper or silk bare of ink, but in other cases water is represented as elegant patterns composed of multiple lines that express the dynamic power of waves or torrents. Reflections in water, on the other hand, rarely occur in Chinese or Japanese landscapes.
