DescriptionGrid of 12 gelatin silver prints, all trimmed and mounted, featuring different views of the Egyptian pyramids.Gallery Label
In this grid of images depicting the ancient pyramids of Egypt, DoDo Jin Ming explores both the technical nature and subjectivity of the photographic language, using the conceptual strategy of a typology. By shifting the vantage point, scale and tonal rendition in each of her photographs, Ming essentially abstracts her subject, suggesting that there is no one correct or official view, but rather collective (and subjective) variations of a type that inform the viewer's perceptions of these historic monuments.
