DescriptionThe mounting dates to the late 17th-early 18th century, Edo Period. The blade dates to the 16th century, Muromachi Period. The mounting is made of oak and mother-of-pearl, and the blade is tempered steel. The fuchi (metal collar) is shakudo (copper-gold alloy). The tsuba (sword guard) is iron covered with lacquered leather.
