DescriptionImage of two women astride light-colored horses posed in front of a building or house. This half plate cased daguerreotype is housed in an oval brass mat inside of a decorative wooden case with an embossed dark blue velvet liner.Gallery LabelHorses and horse-drawn carriages were relatively common subjects in outdoor daguerreotype scenes. This image is a beautifully posed double portrait of two white steeds and their female riders. The well-groomed horses, whose handsome appearances take center stage, overshadow their human companions.
