[1] In a letter to J. C. Nichols, Nelson-Atkins Trustee, July 19, 1932, Kevorkian wrote: "Mr. Gardner [Paul Gardner, Assistant to the Trustees and later Director] thought advisable to leave out No. 29 Rug.... He did strive and succeeded in striking a most advantageous bargain for the Gallery in substituting it with 3 fine 16th century Miniature Paintings and one Luristan Bronze of beauty.
