Gallery LabelThrough Marc Chagall’s hands, the world comes to life in an exuberant flowering of color and beauty: a bouquet of roses, a basket of fruits, a plate of plums, a little cup, and a glimpse of the city beyond a window. For him, there was but one color: “the color of love.” Chagall chose color lithography for this print. In applying oily liquid to the stone surface with a brush, he achieved a painterly softness.
