Lewis Tabor’s work suggests the appeal of astronomical images as both information and art. A professional astronomer, Tabor also exhibited artistic photographs in the 1920s and 1930s. His personal work encompassed the themes of light, vision, and technology. This striking image of the eclipsed sun was made in the course of his professional work. He then printed the image much larger than the needs of science alone required, giving it a bold, artistic presence.
