DescriptionDeconstructed stack pot form with decoration in black terra sigillata or slip and sgraffito. Form is wheel-thrown and then cut and reconstructed. Slip decoration combines figural, abstract patterns from textiles and basketry and runic motis. One section is embossed white porcelain. The whole is supported by four feet, all of them different.Gallery Label
Edward Eberle’s deconstructed vessels integrate drawing, painting, sculpture and potting. His shapes and drawings are inspired by American Indian Mimbres pottery, ancient Greek narrative ceramics and Renaissance and Baroque art. Eberle’s mysterious scenes leave us curious as to what story he is trying to tell.
