DescriptionThe top of this helmet mask is in the form of a human face. Shells form the eyes, and the raised nose has circular nostrils. A wide band decorated with curvilinear patterns surrounds each side of the face. An elongated pig's head juts from the mouth, and a catfish protrudes from the top of the head. Fiber plaited into an openwork pattern and decorated with long slender black feathers decorates the bottom edge of the mask.ProvenanceHarrison Jedel (1924-2016), Kansas City, MO, by 2000;
