DescriptionThe set of eight wine cups are in the shape of a Chinese gold or silver ingot, but of different sizes ranging from 5.5 cm. to 12 cm. in length. The size increases at a regular rate so that each cup, when piled up, may nestle comfortably in the next one. These black lacquered cups are silver inside, while the outer surfaces are decorated with Chinese garden scenes in mother-of-pearl inlay. The landscape on each cup has a band of geometric pattern along its top and bottom borders. The iridescent figures, rocks, pavilions, willows and wu-t'ung trees on the larger cups gradually dwindle to mere geometric leaves against a black background on the smallest one.
