DescriptionBound volume with seven folding plates of bridge designs in color woodcut, each faced, left, by half-page, white, bearing photo of bridge, recto, and text, verso.Gallery LabelThe Bridge Book is a bound book of 7 woodcuts depicting bridges. The bridge is one of Siah Armajani's most important subjects. It permits passage, links two separate locations and thus facilitates communication. The artist has also designed numerous reading rooms, communicative and educational spaces where all have equal access to knowledge, according to the promises of democracy. Similarly, the book is a vehicle of communication and represents the embodiment of ideas through the form of a bridge and/or written language.
