DescriptionThis large charcoal drawing is a profile portrait of a young woman who appears to be leaning with her arms folded over the back of a chair or table top. The woman's head is turned so that the viewer may only see the proper left side of her face. The index finger of her proper left hand touches her cheek near her ear while her chin rests on the knuckles of this same hand. The woman's hair is loosely arranged in a fashionable bouffant. She wears a long-sleeved blouse with a high collar to which a large brooch is pinned. The woman's hair, face, collar, brooch, and proper left sleeve are much more detailed than her proper right sleeve and the chair or table top on which she leans.
