DescriptionJapanese made for Chinese market; flattened shield-shaped laque burgaute bottle decorated with gold, purple, and blue mother-of-pearl star design around body on narrow side, center panels embellished with ivory Japanese woman sitting on a garden seat reading a book underneath a maple tree with a parrot beside her on a black and gold ground and green malachite rock work on one side and on reverse with an embellished flower and soapstone ewer with butterfly in flight underneath the cloud. Apocryphal 4-character Qianlong mark on base; silver collar and amber stopper.
