DescriptionVase has smooth, matte orange/red glaze with black highlights. Horizontal concentric circle manipulation of clay visible around top.Gallery LabelGertrud and Otto Natzler fled their Austrian homeland at the outset of World War II and arrived in Los Angeles in 1938. They brought with them an expansive knowledge of ceramic production, a refined aesthetic and an international reputation. Working as a team, Gertrud shaped the delicate forms for Otto's remarkable glazes. Simple and pure, the vessels are inspired by natural forms and classic period ceramics from the Chinese Sung and Korean Yi dynasties.
